ADB-Jharkhand Govt.sign $200 million road agreement

The Jharkhand government and the Asian Development Bank on Friday signed the $200 million loan and project agreement to build four roads in the state.
These roads to be constructed inaccordance with the agreement were:43.7 KM Khunti-Tamar;43.5 KM Govindpur-Tundi-Giridih;45.2 KM Giridih-Jamua-Sarwan;and 44.2 KM Dumka-hasdiha.
The agreement was signed in New Delhi’s North Block.While the state government was represented by its Chief Secretary Raj Bala Verma and Secretary,MR Meena,the ADB was represented by its Director, India Resident Mission,M.Teresa Kho and the Union Government was represented by Finance Ministry’s Additional Secretary Raj Kumar.
In fact,the agreement was billed as ‘Second Jharkhand State Road Project’.
Notably,in 2013,or the First Jharkhand State Road Project,the ADB had provided $400 million to the Jharkhand government to build the 115-KM ring road and 356-KM inter-district road starting in Govindpur in Dhanbad and ending in Sahebgunj.
