AJSU MLA sentenced for seven years of imprisonment

download (14)The court today sentenced seven years of imprisonment and Rs 10,000 fine to AJSU MLA Kamal Kishore Bhagat and his aid Alester Bodra.

The sentence was awarded by Additional Judicial Commissioner Krishna Kumar in 22-year-old case lodged on Sepetember 28,1993 at sadar Police station by renowned neuro –physician Dr KK Sinha.

Both Bhagat,AJSU MLA from Lohardaga and Bodra were charged with making an attempt to murder Dr Sinha and demand extortion. As per the FIR filed by Dr Sinha,Bhagat was also charged with firing from his pistol during a scuffle with him.

The police had recovered the pistol and catridges,in addition to a vehicle used by the accused to come to Dr Sinha’s residence.They were held guilty in the case by the court on Monday.

Since the quantum of jail term awarded to him seven years,Bhagat will lose his MLAship making Lohardaga Assembly Scheduled Tribe seat vacant.
