In a bid to encourage domestic manufacturing in the healthcare sector under the ‘Make in India’ campaign, the Government has rejigged custom duty on select medical devices and raw materials that go into their manufacturing.

It has increased basic customs duty on select medical devices from 5 per cent to 7 and also imposed 4 per cent of Special Additional Duty (SAD).
