Reports trickling down from the box office say this Arjun Kapoor-starrer film has netted Rs. 3.75 crore on the opening day.

Aurangzeb produced with a budget of Rs. 25 crore has managed good business in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and East Punjab territory, said a statement.

It’s a film directed by Atul Sabharwal and features Jackie Shroff, Rishi Kapoor, southern actor Prithviraj Sukumaran and Amrita Singh.

This is evident from the number of films she has in her kitty.Sample them- ‘Gulaab Gang’, ‘Dedh Ishqiya’ and ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani .

In ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani,she has done an item number with Ranbir Kapoor.The dance scenes show they may make the nation go crazy for them.

John Abrahm is shining with money raining over his crime thriller “Shootout At Wadala”.

Reports say this film had collected nearly Rs. 33 crore till yesterday.Even the “Bombay Talkies” had fetched about Rs 6 crore.

Both these films were released on May 3.

Produced at a cost of Rs. 6 crore, “Bombay Talkies” was released in about 480 screens whereas “Shootout At Wadala” made out of a big budget was released across the country on nearly 1,700 screens.

Distributor Ramesh Sippy of BRS Enterprises,say that both these films have done okay business.”While Bombay Talkies bagged around Rs. 4.5 crore , ‘Shootout At Wadala’ had netted around Rs. 33 crore till Monday,”says Sippy

Residential District Collector of Beed falling in Marathwada B M Kamble has admitted that Being Human Foundation is providing 750 water tanks.”We are doing everything to ensure the water is equitably distributed among the affected lot”,said Kamble.

Earlier,his district office had received an e-mail from Being Human Foundation saying that it will provide 750 tankers to Beed,500 each to Osmanabad and Jalna and 250 each to Aurangabad and Nanded.Being Human Foundation had also adopted nearly 200 villages in the Aurangabad district for their uplift.

Actor Ranbir Kapoor was detained by the customs officials at the Chattrapati Shivaji International airport when he landed from a British Airways from London at 12:30 A.M last night for not disclosing his branded goods in his luggage such as perfume and shoes.

‘’He was let off only after he coughed up Rs 60,000 as fine”, said a custom official posted at the same airport

As per the law, passengers carrying goods or items above the permitted customs limits are expected to go through the Red Channel after paying the customs duty

Actress Mala Sinha is in the news.This time not for her roles in the 1960’s.

Instead for her anger and outburst against the Government of India’s committee that has bestowed the Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Award upon her.

The award function was held on April 30.But she did not turn up to receive the award.

Incidentally,the highest award was dedicated to Dhundiraj Govind Phalke, popularly known as Dadasaheb Phalke( 30 April 1870 – 16 February 1944).He was an Indian producer-director-screenwriter, known as the father of Indian Cinema.

Starting with his debut film,Raja Harischandra in 1913, now known as India’s first full-length feature, he made 95 movies and 26 short films in his career spanning 19 years, till 1937, including his most noted works: Mohini Bhasmasur (1913), Satyavan Savitri (1914), Lanka Dahan (1917), Shri Krishna Janma(1918) and Kaliya Mardan (1919).

The Dadasaheb Phalke Award, for lifetime contribution to cinema, was instituted in his honor by the Government of India in 1969. The award one of the most prestigious awards in Indian Cinema and is the highest official recognition for film personalities in the country.

Sinha recognizes it.But she had refused to accept it on the ground that she feels the committee members had not treated her the way she deserved.

Reports quoting her said:””They’ve done grave injustice to me. They haven’t even mentioned my name on the invitation card! When members of the Phalke committee, including their chairperson, came home to request me to take the award for being what they called a legendary artiste, I was happy to accept it. But when I saw the invitation card for the event, I was shocked. My name was not there with the other winners of the award.”

After they made it carrying scenes of violence and gore, the makers of the upcoming film- Go Goa Gone- Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK were pessimist about the censor’s verdict.

Today they were in cheers as the CBFC(Central Board of Film Certification) has given the film an ‘A’ rating without a single cut!

She stormed the cine world by playing a lead role in The Dirty Picture with co –star Naseeruddin Shah.Now,Vidya Balan is going to share the screen with Shah and Amitabh Bacchan in film Badla.

Badla is directed by Sujoy Ghosh.

The movie centres around the old theme of revenge.

Earlier,Balan,who had bagged two national awardsby playing the role of a seven-month pregnant woman who comes to Kolkata from Londeon in search of her husband.

Reports claim Vidya is in good book of both Shah and Bacchan with whom she was seen in Paa in 2009.

She will be seen sharing the screen space with actor The Dirty Picture co-star Naseeruddin Shah and Amitabh Bachchan indirector Sujoy Ghosh’s film Badla.

Directed by Pradeep Sarkar who had directed Rani in Laaga Chunari Me Daag,Mardaani is described as the boldest movie project of Yash Raj Films.

Aditya Chopra is rumoured to have hand picked Rani as the script of Maardani required a strong heroine.
