A senior IAS officer who is holding a crucial position in the Jharkhand Secretariat has been calling Block Development Officers and Circle Officers,asking them to meet him if any one of them wants a choice posting.

As it is,in Jharkhand where the transfer and posting had acquired industrious proportion,almost every post had its value.The posting of a BDO and CO carried a price tag of Rs five lakh to Rs 30 lakh.As such,the said IAS officer who is slated to retire by the end of this year,was understood to be in a hurry to make fortunes.

In fact,he is already a crorepati who has used his enterprising wife,a distributor of books and principal of a school.

Prabhat Khabar,a leading Hindi Daily,today front paged the story without naming the officer.”Because such conversations were on telephone,his name was not being disclosed”,said the Daily.

This was primarily because Sahay,who wanted Choudhary to retire on January 31 and AK Sarkar,Principal Secretary of mines in Jharkhand to succeed him,had reportedly got the file seeking grant of extension to Choudhary ‘hidden’ at DoPT in New Delhi.

Though he was not available for comment,Sahay,who represents Ranchi in the Lok Sabha,failed in his mission mainly due to the active involvement of the PMO and DoPT who wanted Choudhary to get the two month extension.

Lord Krishna

Bright and soothing pictures of two super natural entities-one of Christianity and another of Hinduism -Jesus Christ and Lord Krishna-sharing a platform and Aarti offered to them regularly inside the Yogda Ashram in Ranchi,may confirm secular credentials of the Yogda Satsanga Society(YSS) of India.

But not all YSS members take it as such and appreciate veneration and worshiping of Jesus Christ and Lord Krishna together.

“This proves that those who are managing the Society today are out to Christianise it.We can not tolerate it”,fumes Moti Lal Gupta,a member of the YSS,who had issued a statement criticizing it.

Paramhansa Yogananda

YSS,a non profit religious organization founded by Paramhansa Yogananda in 1917,is also known in countries outside the Indian subcontinent as Self Realisation Fellowship(SRF).

For almost ninty five years,these two bodies running and managing atleast four centres located in Ranchi,Dakshineshwar,Kolkata,NOIDA,Delhi and Ranikhet,Uttrakhand,were dedicated to carrying on the spiritual and humanitarian work of its founder who is widely revered as the father of Yoga in the west.

Yogananda established YSS to make available the universal teachings of “Kriya Yoga”,a spiritual science of “Pranayama”-life-force control and meditation techniques in India.“These nonsectarian teachings embody a complete philosophy and way of life for achieving all-round success and well-being, as well as methods of meditation for achieving life’s ultimate goal — union of the soul with Spirit (God)”,claims a document published by the YSS.

But Gupta,who was associated with YSS and SRF for decades,has alleged that all those men who were managing these two bodies today,were using the name of Paramhansa Yogananda to “Christianise”the YSS.

His allegations include:

Jesus Christ

*The pictures of two Hindu Gods-Shiva and Krishna-were removed from the latest edition of the Autobiography of a Yogi.

*Two rituals-“Hawan”and “Bramhnandam” performed at Dakshineshwar and Yogda Ashram Ranchi on a regular basis in the past were withdrawn.

*During the course of Yoga Kriya,the devotes were asked to swear by Jesus Christ.

“I have documentary evidences to show how the YSS and SRF have changed over the years to the effect that Christ instead of Shiva and Krishna was revered by the members of these bodies.This is against the spirit of Yogda movement started by Paramhansa”,alleged Gupta.

Asked for his reaction,YSS’s Incharchge(Public Relations)Nishthanandji said:”Yogda movement was based on the ideals of secularism.It aimed to bring unity between the East and the West and was in the heart of Paramhansa Yogananda.We have done nothing wrong.”

Sharma,a Jharkhand cadre IAS,who is credited to have built a solid infrastructure for the IT Department in the state before joining the UIDAI as its Director General,had more than three years of service left.

This was considered another plus factor for him to lead the state’s bureaucracy. Since his administrative capability as well as his knowledge and expertise in IT were well acknowledged,the tech saavy CM Arjun Munda,who has vision to use the Information Technology Communication to make the governance accountable and transparent,vived well with Sharma.

In any case,if he is preferred by the CM who manages to bring him back to the state from Centre where the UIDAI DG is on deputation,Sharma can succeed Chief Secretary SK Choudhary who is slated to retire in January next year.

The same day his successor Cyrus Pallonji Mistry, who is the current Deputy Chairman, will take over from him.During a stint of over 21 years,Ratan Tata saw the Group becoming a real multinational with more than 65 percent of revenue coming from overseas operations.

 Mistry will have to be innovative in his approach to keep the flag of his companies flying.

Whether or not this leads to any pact between the two,the staff of the two companies were also discussing the same matter generating speculation that Lary and Cook were out for a truce in the larger interest of their global business.
