“This will benefit 2.5 crore people belonging to nearly 50 lakh families as they will get subsidised food”,said Roy.
Roy said, with the Food Security Act coming into force, the ration cards will be made available to people.
“Right now there were many people whose names were not figuring in the list prepared for the Food Security Act.The officers were asked to make the form available to the people so that they can fill it up and gain the ration cards”,said Roy.
Roy has directed the concerned officers to review the list of card holders and add the names of new applicants after conducting enquiry and investigation so that only genuine persons are provided with ration cards in accordance with the Act.
Importantly,to address the concerns and complaints connected with food security and subsidised food available at PDS, a Tall Free Phone was introduced. Its number is 18003456598.”On this number any body can lodge complaint any time and day”,said the Minister.
