Congress MLA convicted in assault case

Jharkhand Congress MLA Videsh Singh was convicted today in an assault case in Palamu district in 2008.

Judicial Magistrate Raju Tripathy convicted Singh under Section 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of IPC for causing hurt to one Birendra Mehta of Budhadih under Manatu police station of Palamau district in January, 2008.

However, the court discharged him on personal bond with a warning to maintain good conduct for two years under Probation of Offender Act.
