In its effort to connect with women of the country, the Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah today flagged off a week-long ‘Naari Samman Yatra’ at the party headquarters on Ashoka Road in Delhi to create awareness among women about their safety and highlight various social welfare schemes launched by the Centre for them and the girl child.
The yatra, led by party’s women’s wing chief Vijaya Rahatkar, will pass through Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal and will culminate in Kolkata on June 24 after covering a distance of 2,800 km during its first phase.
“The yatra intends to increase participation of women in this process of development,” Rahatkar said.
