Jharkhand Education Minister Neera Yadav has become a subject of criticism after she paid homage to former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam at an event in Kodarma by garlanding his photo which is considered inauspicious because according to the Hindu tradition this way respect is paid to a person after his death.
The incident has raised questions over the lack of knowledge of a state Education Minister as she paid homage to a living person.
Not only Yadav, Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Manish Jaiswal, the principal of the school where the event was held were among several other people present. It is shocking that none of them knew that they were paying homage to a person who is still alive.
The Minister was invited as the chief guest for the event where she inaugurated the smart classes. Before the inauguration, she garlanded the photo of the former President.
