Racket of debit card fraud traced to Jharkhand

A racket of debit card fraud has been unearthed in Kolkata and the police have traced it to Jharkhand where people by posing as customer care executives of banks collect details of debit cards of customers over mobile phone.

According to the Kolkata Police, at least 450-500 cases of such fraud are reported daily from different police stations in the city.

Investigations into the racket have led Kolkata Police to Jharkhand, which has become the “headquarters” of such frauds, said the police.

There are innumerable rackets operating from Karmatar in Jamtara district and Madhupur in Deoghar district in Jharkhand, added the police.
