Ranchi based PSU to manufecture Russian company’s Dozers

Keeping in view of the Govt of India action plan to ‘Make in India’,Ranchi based PSU HEC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a Russian company to manufecture the-art Dozers and Pipe Layers used extensively in the mining and key sectors of the economy.
The HEC signed the MoU with “Chetra” – a Russian firm located at Cheboksary this year. This firm has been supplying Dozers of various capacities to the subsidiaries of Coal India Ltd, Neyveli Lignite Corporation Ltd and other mining customers.
The company also has a wide market in India for Pipe Layers and has made supplies to the Energy & Oil Sectors. The MoU between HEC and Chetra covers joint co-operation for assembly and production of Dozers and Pipe Layers in India.
Subsequent to the visits of top officials and the technical experts from both sides to complete the ground work, it has now been affirmed to jointly launch Dozers assembled in India.
The first unit is expected to be launched in March 2016. The components shall be shipped to HEC in knock-down condition and assembled at works of HEC.
Both the companies have planned to subsequently localize the manufacturing of these vital machinery. To start with, the engine and radiator shall be sourced from Indian firms. Gradually electrical items shall be taken up for indigenous sourcing and fabricated parts like blade & frame for manufacturing at HEC.
The design facilities of the Corporation would be utilized and upgraded suitably to meet the needs of this project. It is expected that the Corporation growth is assured as defined attention to in- house R & D; Engineering; up-gradation of technology as well as augmentation of its capacity is being given.
With a new product in its kit, HEC eyes to be major supplier of Dozers after the launch. Other products on the anvil are: Hydraulic Excavator and Pipe Layers.
The officers and workers of the Corporation are confident to deliver such goods and services and upgrade the area of production of this equipment manufacture.
