Supreme Court directive to educate people about ill effects of crackers

supremecourtThe Union and State governments have been directed by the Supreme Court to educate people about the ill effects of crackers and advise them not to use fireworks.

A Bench of Chief Justice H.L. Dattu and Amitava Roy said, “The Union government and all the state governments will give wide publicity both in print and electronic media to the ill effects of fireworks and advise people accordingly”.

The Bench also directed the teachers/ lecturers/ assistant professors/professors of the schools and colleges to educate the students about the ill-effects of the fireworks.

The apex Court directive has come in response to the petition of infants who had moved the court against the use of loud fire-crackers.
