Top Maoist Sylvester Minz killed in ‘encounter’ in Gumla

The police was in search of him in more than a dozen cases of murder,rioting,extortion and attack and had declared a reward of Rs 15 lakh on his head.
Now, the security forces are heaving a shy of relief after they recorded the death of this Maoist leader Sylvester Minz.“It is a big relief for all of us”,smiles Prya Ranjan Singh,a CRPF jawan.
In fact,Minz was reportedly shot dead in an encounter with the CRPF in Jharkhand’s Gumla region on saturday.
Reports claim that the encounter took place on Saturday morning between 5-6 am after the police received a tip-off that the Maoists had gathered in a village under the Chainpur Police Station in in Gumla,Jharkhand.
Subsequently,the police claimed,a gun battle took place.”The Maoists saw the forces closing in on them. It is not clear if there were any injury or casualty among the police personnel”,said a senior police officer.
The police record shows that Sylvester Minz was a member of the CPI (Maoist) Zonal Area Committee. A senior police officer said:”Today,the security forces made another success because a Sub-zonal Commander among the Maoists was also arrested on Saturday.
Incidentally,Saturday’s encounter comes after Maoists torched 30 mining in Jharkhand’s Bokaro district on Friday night.
