The proposed Adani supercritical thermal power plant in Godda is planned to be inaugurated. The Prime Ministers Narendra Modi is being approached to lay its foundation stone by the end of May, it is learnt.

The land to set up the upcoming 1,600 MW power plant at Godda was already acquired. The remaining part of the land is being acquired by the state government, says Industry Secretary Sunil Kumar Barnwal.

The modalities of the inauguration were being chalked out.The success achieved by the state government led by Chief Minister Raghubar Das in the acquisition of land and its transfer to the Adani group is first of its kind in Jharkhand where a number of projects had failed to take off solely due to protests and agitations against the acquisition of land since 2000.

The state government had signed a number of MoUs with companies after it held three rounds of conclaves, each with representatives of companies, inviting them to invest in the state under the banner of 'Momentum Jharkhand'.

After the 4th Momentum Jharkhand conclave is held at Kumetha in Deoghar on April 27 where 151 companies may sign MoUs with the Das government to make over Rs 2700 crores, Adani Super-Critical Thermal Power plant in Godda is planned to be inaugurated which is likely to give a big boost to industrialisation in Jharkhand, increase power production and contain power shortage.

In any case, if these projects take off, scores of people will get employment. As a result of the Momentum Jharkhand initiative, small and medium industries with an investment of about Rs 8800 can be a reality, claims Barnwal.
