With festival celebration of Muslim community ‘Eid-ul-Fitr’ around,Ranchi wears a festive look.The  decorated market and colourful stalls along Main road in capital of Jharkhand mark the occasion.

Eid-ul-Fitr is one of the main festivals of the community. The celebration starts with offering Namaz. As per tradition,the festival is celebrated based on an Islamic belief by following the form of social practice. It is notable that festival of Eid-ul-Fitr marks culmination of holy Ramadan with bliss and delight.

Like Ranchi,in all towns and cities in Jharkhand,markets are flooded up with the lucrative items and special food stuff. A large number of people thronged in the market for the shopping for the festival. A number of shopping stores are decked up with clothes, delicacies, decoration item and other essential articles.

To maintain law and order,the state administration has deployed security forces and Magistrates.In Ranchi,in view of two recent cases of communal incidents at Sukurhuttu,mahadeo Tangra and Pali villages,security forces were deployed in strength with more than 100 Magistrates to back them.   

In market complex,although branded perfumes are available at shops, celebrators prefer to go for traditional Itra. City malls also welcomed the festival with lucrative offers and coupons to attract the customers. A number of stalls are installed in the market. Everyone is excited to celebrate the festival wearing new and designer clothes.

“Although prices are high but we cannot miss this moment and want to enjoy the festival at full,” said Sana, a shopper at New Market,Ranchi. She further said that she has purchased clothes for family members especially for the little ones at her home and also the sweets and eatables.

Sale of vermicelli, sweets and dry fruits have gone up in the market by 50 per cent. Date palms, boondi, vermicelli, fruits, sweets etc are in high demand and available in each market of the city.

Especially Hindpiri,Karbala Chowk and Doranda are having the shine of the festival and are decked up with all the stuff marking the festival from clothes to food stuff and eatables.

The Eid-ul-Fitr celebration starts from early morning, everyone from the community visits their relatives, greets each other and serves delicious food. People dress in their best uniforms and wish for peace and prosperity of everyone. Devotees on this day wear their best clothes and offer ‘Namaz’ at masjids (mosques).
