The 2019 general elections are expected in mid-summer April-May when summer will heat up the mother earth. But politicians will campaign and go door to door. While they have already launched a campaign, the Election Commission of India (ECI) is not lagging behind.

In fact, the ECI has started preparations for 2019 general elections, it is learnt. Its functionaries are carrying out preparations for conducting forthcoming elections as per meticulously chalked out schedule.

As the EC conducts the election, the election commission staff move into action and Pan-India efforts make nearly 11 million persons at state-level start work. The massive exercise entails ensuring nearly 11 million personnel at the state level, training of polling personnel and observers, ensuring polling infrastructure personnel and machines across length and breadth of the country. 

Also, EC conducts training introducing IT solutions to emerging needs, enforcing a model code of conducts, interalia handling the abuse of money power and freebies in elections as also the menace of paid/sponsored news.

This time, as per EC statistics, nearly 88 crore voters will exercise its franchise in more than 10 lakh polling stations spread over 4120 assembly constituencies and around 8200 candidates will be in the fray. It is learnt that in the election more than 22 lakh ballot units, more than 16 lakh control units and more than 17 lakh voter-verifiable paper audit trail machines will be used in the election.     

As per official records, transportation of polling personnel on duty and equipment through road, rail and even airlifting wherever necessary because of terrain, thousands of companies of the Central Armed Police Forces, are planned to be deployed along with coordination with all relevant departments.
